The Colosseum in Rome is the biggest amphitheatre of Roman antiquity. The Colosseum was opened in 80 AD by Emperor Titus with 100-day games, offering everything from gladiatorial contests to naval battles in the overflowing arena. Entry into the Colosseum was free to all free citizens of Rome. The Colosseum was in use for over 400 years, before being abandoned due to damage caused earthquakes and wars.
